With the dark and dreary days of January finally behind us, we are all looking forward to the new hope and challenges of Spring. Nonetheless, the month was made brighter by a couple of events and activities. First, thanks go again to Randstad for hosting a truly wonderful (and colorful!) New Year’s reception at their head office in Amsterdam. Not to be outdone, Cargill officially joined Workplace Pride that evening as the Foundation’s 50th member; a true milestone for us all.
Preparations continue for many activities this year that will both challenge our members around the world and help move the dial forward on the “LGBT workplace inclusion clock”. These include LGBT workplace events that the Foundation is organizing in Chennai, India on 19 May (Host RELX), Manila, Philippines on 23 August (Host Shell), Nairobi, Kenya (in Q4 with main sponsor IBM), not to mention our main International Conference on 23 June in Brussels, co-organized this year with ILGA Europe.
In addition to these activities will be many events for our members through Women@WorkplacePride (on 15 March), Young@WorkplacePride (coming soon), our partnership with The Economist (on 23 March), Amsterdam Pride (on 5 August), our Leadership Awards Gala in October and on and on…
2017 will be a year of change for many reasons and for many people. We, though, will work hard to ensure that it is a year of POSITIVE change for LGBT people in the workplace and for those that support us.

Highlights from Workplace Pride New Year’s Reception
On Thursday, January 19th, Workplace Pride celebrated the new year with a reception for members and friends at Randstad’s global headquarters in Amsterdam. With many new as well as familiar faces, the event was a great way to kick off the new year, introduce new members and programs, and look at the year ahead. A special thanks goes to Randstad for the enthusiasm with which they took on the hosting role!
On January 19th, 2017 Workplace Pride officially welcomed Cargill as its 50th member. The official signing ceremony took place during the Workplace Pride New Year’s Event at Randstad, a joyous occasion which saw Harold Poelma, CEO Cargill Nederland, take center stage.
Women@WorkplacePride Event Hosted by Amsterdam City Council
Women@WorkplacePride and the “Roze Ambtenaren Netwerk” of Amsterdam City Council invite you on Wednesday, March 15th, from 16:30h -19:30h, to listen, learn and think about this topic. There will be three speakers and lots of room for discussion, followed by informal discussion over drinks. The target audience is (LGBTI) women, but everyone is welcome!
Please save the date in your calendars for the Workplace Pride 2017 International Conference being held in Brussels on June 23rd! The event, which sees the Foundation collaborating with ILGA Europe will focus on the important role of the EU Institutions in driving the LGBT workplace agenda and continue the on-going link between the public & private sectors and civil society.
