On Thursday, January 19th, Workplace Pride celebrated the new year with a reception for members and friends at Randstad’s global headquarters in Amsterdam. Host Ton Hopmans, Yacht Managing Director and Director Global Talent Management Randstad Group, welcomed participants to the event by putting the company’s LGBT outlook into perspective.
David Pollard, Workplace Pride Executive Director, thanked all members for their ongoing support and looked to the year ahead. “2017 will be another existing year for the Foundation”, he said. “With our International Conference in Brussels, an event in Manila (Philippines), Chennai (India) and possibly in Nairobi (Kenya), we are enlarging our international footprint.” In addition David briefly mentioned the upcoming website update and the Member Toolkit the Foundation is preparing, before introducing the staff and board to the public.
Cargill’s CEO Nederland, Harold Poelma joined David for a symbolic signing ceremony as Workplace Pride’s 50th member (please click HERE for full article), after which Prof. Dr. Jojanneke van der Toorn, the Workplace Pride Chair at Leiden University, took the stage to give a short insight into her task ahead (please click HERE for full article).
The evening continued with a very well attended and highly professional organized network reception.

On January 19th, 2017 Workplace Pride officially welcomed Cargill as its 50th member. The official signing ceremony took place during the Workplace Pride New Year’s Event at Randstad, a joyous occasion which saw Harold Poelma, CEO Cargill Nederland, take center stage.

It is with great please that Workplace Pride, Leiden University and KPN announce that Dr. Jojanneke van der Toon has been named Professor for the Workplace Pride Chair at Leiden Univerity.
This Chair, which has been under development for a number of years, is the first of its kind in the world. The Chair will provide a focused and scientific approach to improving LGBT inclusion in the workplace and will foster the development of scholarship in this priority research field both domestically and internationally. It will create a theoretical framework on which to base future studies of international LGBT workplace studies, and identify factors that influence LGBT inclusiveness in society and its dynamics.
“By connecting with our members and other organizations on a regular basis, Dr. van der Toorn will help them look at the ‘bigger picture’ of LGBT workplace inclusion and thus enhance its practical applications.
