TU Delft Joins Workplace Pride
October 12, 2016
TU Delft has joined Workplace Pride as its 49th member on the occasion of National Coming Out Day. By doing so, it becomes one of the increasing number of organizations, from both the public and private sectors, that focus on creating work and study places in which all people, including LGBTs, can truly be themselves.
TU Delft ( Delft University of Technology) has been providing technical education for over 170 years and is one of the world’s leading universities, ranking in the top 50 in a total of 10 fields. “TU Delft is an organization that is increasingly diverse” said Anka Mulder, Vice President and Education of TU Delft.
“That is why it is so important that ‘inclusion’ is high on our agenda”. The University is the second academic institution (after Leiden University) to become a member of Workplace Pride Foundation and the first technical university to do so. “This is an important milestone, both for current and future students” says David Pollard, Executive Director of Workplace Pride. “They will benefit by knowing that being LGBT does not need to be a hinderance to their studies. In addition, LGBT faculty and staff and their straight allies will be reminded that they work in a safe and inclusive environment”, says Pollard.
