The first Connecting Networks event of 2011 took place yesterday in the striking new offices of Boston Consulting Group in Amsterdam. 13 of the 17 CPP Members were represented and engaged in lively discussions about (among other topics):
- How to best leverage your planning for 2011
- How to encourage greater participation from each networks own members
- How to cooperate under the banner of CPP to achieve greater progress and visibility for LGBT employee networks
During the discussion, each network representative gave an overview of the progress they had made, but also about the challenges they faced. This exchange of ideas and suggestions about making progress on LGBT workplace visibility is one of the fundamental values of the CPP, and yesterday’s event was a great example of that in practice.
Members of the CPP will be able to access the ‘take-aways’ from the meeting soon under the “Members-Only” section of the CPP website.

This afternoon, Dutch Employee Benefit Agency UWV officially joined the Company Pride Platform, an organization that strives for greater visibility for lesbians, gay men, bisexuals and transgender people on the workfloor. Joining the network gives the UWV the possibility to meet and discuss with other organizations about LGBT diversity within organizations.
Having the UWV join the Company Pride Platform is a logical step according to Chairman Joop Linthorst who signed the agreement: “Our LGBT Network ‘Gay UWV Pride’ has been active for almost two years. The network supports gay employees and want to share their experiences with other national organizations. This is something that I am happy to sign as Chairman because diversity plays an important role in our organization”.

The UWV operates in a multi-cultural society. This means that the organization deals with a great diversity of religions, cultures, backgrounds and personalities. UWV strongly supports increasing diversity on the workfloor. First of all, the organization strives to effectively deal with differences in the type, experiences and requirements of its clients. Also though, the UWV strives to ensure a balanced make-up of its personnel as a mirror of society.

The CPP is proud to announce that it has joined ILGA, the premier global organization that supports and fights for LGBT emancipation. ILGA is an international organization bringing together more than 600 lesbian and gay, LGB, LGBT or LGBTIQ groups from around the world. It continues to be active in campaigning for LGBT rights on the international human rights and civil rights scene and regularly petitions the United Nations and governments. ILGA is represented in around 110 countries across the world.
As one of the few organizations worldwide dealing with LGBT workplace issues, the CPP will be in good company among other ILGA members from whom we can learn and with whom we can share our own experiences. The organization also has a unique map on its home page that identifies laws dealing with LGBT issues around the world. This can be a valuable tool for CPP Members when dealing with international transfer of employees, or for the LGBT community when considering where to work or travel.
