Last Thursday, March 11th, David Pollard, Exec. Director of the Company Pride Platform, participated as a panel member at the World Diversity Leadership Summit in Vienna, Austria. The first day of the conference, which was the first of its kind in Austria, was held in the Austrian Ministry of Finance’s premises while the 2nd day was held in the Vienna Chamber of Commerce’s premises. The conference covered a very broad range of diversity topics, including LGBT workplace issues. In his panel, David highlighted both the work of the International Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce as well as that of the CPP. Participants were particularly interested in the participation of corporations in the CPP.
The conference was streamed online to 27,000 viewers and speakers included the Austrian Minister of Finance, and both the Canadian and American Ambassadors to Austria. The truly international audience and participants heard a number of speakers on the topic of LGBT workplace issues, and all agreed that the LGBT community is leading in its ‘self-awareness’ and ‘pro-activeness’ in achieving greater visibility.
